Our Team

Each year, a team of over 200 dedicated individuals voluntarily gathers, processes, and prepares the latest edition of the Happy City Index. Their efforts are fuelled by a deep conviction in the crucial role of citizens and the necessity of shaping urban policies that ensure future generations have access to the finest living conditions. Our focus remains steadfastly on the well-being of both current and future residents, with our work closely aligned with the principles outlined in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

All of our activities are conducted remotely from nearly every continent around the world. Our headquarters is based in London, primarily due to the fact that the majority of our team resides there. However, several members of our group are permanently based in Spain, Sweden, Norway, Iran, Denmark, Poland, Austria, the United States, Italy, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia.

We take great pride in inviting and involving individuals from across the globe to contribute to the creation of the Happy City Index each year.

You may meet our team HERE.

Some have been with us since the very beginning, while others join to collaborate on a particular edition of the Index. Should you wish to be a part of this esteemed group, we encourage you to contact us at [email protected], or follow Happy City Hub on LinkedIn for our latest updates and announcements.

Institute

The Institute for Quality of Life is a project undertaken by Happy City Hub Ltd. The core focus of the Institute is the individual, encompassing residents, employees, parents, children, senior citizens, and all other members of the community.

The Institute for Quality of Life conducts research on various aspects of quality of life. It monitors, analyses, and studies areas related to community decision-making, the creation of social policies, the implementation of public services, and the effectiveness in addressing new challenges and crises faced by developing communities. The Institute also extends its expertise to enterprise and business activities, focusing on involving employees in strategy creation, human-centred and inclusive management, and the well-being of individuals employed in various organisations.
Research in recent decades has increasingly focused on the concept of work-life balance. However, we do not draw a distinction between the two realms, as we believe, as futurists, that such a separation is no longer viable.

The mission of the Institute for Quality of Life is to improve the quality of life by providing and popularising reliable research on human well-being in a given environment.

Every day, people around the world strive to achieve their goals. Each person's life is unique, with its own distinct beginning, development, and ending. There are billions of factors that distinguish us and create our individual stories. The mission of the Institute for Quality of Life is to improve life quality by providing and popularising reliable research on human well-being in various environments. Importantly, we never create a single model of the happiest individual. Our work and experience have led us to the conclusion that the concept of a high quality of life is highly subjective, influenced by one's history, traditions, religion, and the geopolitical location of their country. Striving for a high quality of life is almost always associated with the use of several objective tools that are employed globally.

However, we believe that KPI analysis alone is insufficient. Regardless of other circumstances, there are two major foundations for creating a happy place: building relationships, which stem from the innate need to belong and contribute to our happiness, and education, which can never be overemphasised.

Happy cities typically have strong relationships with their citizens, actively fostering these connections through numerous methods.

The HAPPY CITY INDEX is being developed by a team of researchers from the INSTITUTE FOR QUALITY OF LIFE and HAPPY CITY HUB LTD.
