Happy City Index 2026
Official Results Announcement
On 20 March 2026—the International Day of Happiness—we will unveil the official results of the Happy City Index 2026 at 12:00 at the Westminster building, home of the UK Parliament. This year’s edition is shaped by a global community of 830 researchers, reflecting the scale and rigour behind the Index.
On the same day, our website will publish the official city listing and a full presentation of the assessed cities. The GOLD category will once again recognise cities that set a strong benchmark for urban wellbeing and long-term quality of life.
Importantly, the Happy City Index is not about creating a ranking. During that day, we will focus on telling the stories behind the data, highlighting cities whose public policies are consciously oriented towards the happiness of residents today and of future generations. The emphasis will be on learning, inspiration and real-world approaches to building cities that are truly good places to live.
If you are a journalist, represent a city, or are simply interested in the sustainable development of cities and would like to learn more, please join our virtual guest list. We will notify guests separately about the results and share updates on our ongoing work on the Happy City Index. The form is available here:
